Dixie High School Hornet Anglers finish up fishing season
The forecast called for rain on April 21 for Lake Greenwood, but the Dixie High School (Due West) Hornet Anglers were rewarded with warm temperatures and even patches of sunshine.
The temperatures weren’t the only thing heating up as 42 fish were caught with average weighing 1.96 pounds. The winners in the 14-18 year-old group included:
- 1st – Ben Stone – 12.48 pounds
- 2nd – Steven Riddle – 11.97 pounds
- 3rd – Drew Pearman – 7.61 pounds
The winners in the 11-13 group were:
- 1st – J.T. Rawski – 10.21 pounds
- 2nd – Dylan Powell – 7.89 pounds
- 3rd – Ethan Lee – 4.6 pounds
The Big Fish award for the tournament went to Steven Riddle with 4.73 pounds.
Interested in forming a bass fishing club at your school? All you need to do is get a minimum of six students (within the 11-18 year old range) with dues paid and you can have a Youth Bass Fishing Club. You'll also need an adult at your school to help lead the club, provide advice and help arrange at least two club tournaments, fundraisers, speakers and other learning sessions pertaining to fishing for club meetings. The Youth Bass Fishing Clubs is a product of a partnership between the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and The Bass Federation of South Carolina with help and support from parents, teachers, school districts, local bait & tackle shops, community partners and Pure Fishing.
