Ma'am,

  The Gag Act (H.3189) and S.1 - an "Ethics Reform" bill, are being RAMMED into law as I am writing to you. 

 On the surface, these bills don't sound much to do with gun rights. But this is not a battle Second Amendment supporters can afford to ignore. 

 These bills would force Palmetto Gun Rights and other Gun Rights organizations, to hand over the names and addresses of every member and supporter. 

 To make things worse, I'm afraid this is part of a national scheme to silence Second Amendment supporters during election years. 

  Palmetto Gun Rights is prepared to challenge this legislation should the worst happen. But court case challenges will not stop them from RAMMING this into law. 

 That's why it's absolutely critical that you kill these two bills. 

 If passed, the Gag Act would force Gun Rights organizations to all but stop their most important programs by: 

&lt&lt&ltEffectively banning any mention of a candidate's name 30 days before a primary and 60 days before a General Election. 

 That way, anti-gun incumbents could coast to easy re-elections without ever being called to the carpet for their anti-gun records! 

&lt&lt&ltForcing Gun Rights organizations to hand over the names of anyone who contributes $100 or more to any of their efforts effort. 

 This would open up many generous Second Amendment supporters up for political "retribution" for anti-gun politicians, resulting in a disastrous chilling effect on all political speech; 

&lt&lt&ltDraining precious resources away from legislative and election-year battles by jacking up the "cost of doing business." 

 Every new regulation the government slaps on only creates mountains of paperwork and compliance costs. 

This is a complete ASSAULT on the First Amendment! 

 This is similar to the draconian election regulations buried deep inside the so-called "Ethics Reform Bill" last year. And I'm afraid this has been resurrected in S.1 this year as well. 

 Worse, as I mentioned, I'm afraid this is part of a growing anti-gun assault nationwide. 

 After the shellacking they took at the polls in 2014, gun-grabbers believe they must muzzle as many Second Amendment supporters as possible if they're going to succeed in forcing gun control into law at state and federal level. 

 Here in South Carolina, I'm afraid the gun-grabbers believe the timing could not be better to RAM their Gag Act and "Ethics Reform" into law - with the help of politicians from BOTH parties -- if they sell it to the statewide media and grassroots supporters as "commonsense, bipartisan election reform!" 

 As you and I know, for years, politicians in BOTH parties have used pro-gun rhetoric to get elected. But once in office, these "establishment" anti-gun politicians have handed us nothing but broken promises. 

 Just like BILLIONAIRE anti-gun activist Michael Bloomberg, these establishment politicians see grassroots organizations like Palmetto Gun Rights as their biggest threat. 

 That's why there is no time to waste! 

 We cannot allow gun-grabbers and the political establishment to limit our Second Amendment rights, by first silencing our First Amendment rights 

 So I must urge you to kill H.3189 and S. 1 IMMEDIATELY upon their reaching your desk for your signature !
