Senate Looks At Lottery Spending

by Associated Press
Wednesday, May 21, 2003

The Senate has approved a plan on how to spend the 195ýmillion dollars raised from the lottery. That's means
senators are close to wrapping up the state's fiveýbillion
dollar budget.

The Senate plan puts more lottery money into tuition
assistance for technical colleges than the House version. Senators want 34ýmillion dollars for technical college tuition help. The House approved about 28ýmillion dollars.

The Senate version also puts less into kindergarten through fifth grade programs than the House did.
