During WWII, Charleston served as homeport to 17 Army Hospital ships and was the primary debarkation point for wounded evacuated from Europe and Africa. As a maritime organization NOUS does not oppose the expansion of our critical port. I would, however, appreciate the opportunity to meet with the Governor to express the importance of preserving this site where thousands of the Greatest Generation were cared for. Thank you.
