Martintown Road North Augusta SC 29860 patbonsal@att.net 803-341-9919 803-292-3827 ETHI Confederate Flag Issue Dear Gov. Haley, as a private citizen, resident of SC all my life, and a strong supporter of you and your administration (I voted for you, and will again!) I have to express my disappointment at your decision to remove the Confederate Flag from public areas. Now my neighbor city of Augusta GA is considering demolishing a 100-yr-old confederate monument in downtown Augusta to the soldiers who died, as a show of support and removing flags here as well. You cannot cave in to special interest groups and change all of our lives because of their ignorance. They do not know history, and need to accept that you cannot change history by removing a flag! Our history is of utmost importance to me. I live on land where Native Americans lived, the Revolutionary War and Confederate War was fought and I am a proud member of our local Heritage Society who recognizes ALL history in this area, not just that of certain groups. If you want to do something positive for the State, please improve citizens understanding of our true history documented by archeological digs and documents. The flag is just a symbol of history, not a radical statement. For goodness sake please don't disrespect those who died--black, white, Chinese, and Native American, and etc. for we ALL were represented in that horrific war. Thank you, Patricia Bonsal
