Metts Governor Haley, I wish to express to you my disdain for the circumstances involving former Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts. The good sheriff committed multiple crimes for which he was charged. In a plea arrangement, he will receive no jail time. Instead he will be placed on probation. For the sake of his family, who are wonderful people, I am glad he will not be taken away from them. No one gains from such although families are separated by crimes every day. What really chafes me however is that he was allowed to retire and draw his retirement. In all fairness Madam Governor, James Metts should be allowed to withdraw any money he contributed to his retirement fund, but not one dime more. Lastly, his name needs to be removed as soon as possible from the Lexington County Law Enforcement Center and Saluda River Boat Landing. THAT should serve as Mr. Metts harshest penalty. He leaves office in shame and will sadly be remembered for the way he went out instead of the 40 plus years he devoted to the office. Thank you for your time. Keep up the excellent job! In earnest, Michael Anderson
