COLUMBIA, S.C. - Legislation requiring health
insurers in South Carolina to include coverage for some mental
illnesses is headed to Gov. Mark Sanford's desk.
The House adopted the conference committee's report Thursday.
The legislation doesn't cover drug or alcohol addiction
treatments and would not be required on policies for businesses with
50 or fewer workers. It's similar to legislation now on the books in
33 states, according to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill
of South
Carolina. |
