We are both in our 50's. I had an Illinois drivers license & wanted to get a SC one. I cannot believe all it takes to transfer a license from 1 state to another. I needed the following : All original copies, by the way...Birth Certificate, Social Security card, Marriage license f/1st husband, divorce papers f/said husband, marriage license to 2nd husband, & proof of Insurance. Could not find my original divorce papers, had to wait 1 mth. for copies f/Illinois. I have been driving since I was 16, no accidents, or tickets, yet all this had to be shown. Than I come to find out that here you turn 16 & a license is yours...no drivers education required ! Are you kidding me ? No wonder SC has some of the worst drivers I have ever seen, & that's a lot coming from a Chicagoan !! Illinois requires drivers ed classes, countless hours of practice behind the wheel w/your permit & only than are you allowed to take the test for your license. The rules here are ridiculous to say the least. We have been here 2 months & I can't keep track of the number of accidents we have already seen. Maybe it's time to require putting a little more effort into a 16 yr. old obtaining a drivers license, instead of treating people that have had one for over 40 yrs. like they are a nobody. Maybe the younger generation needs more rules & structure instead of being handed a license on a silver platter & let free. People ask me how like I the SC so far, my response is "I like the weather". Something to think about...hmmm ? Thank you for your time.
