I have been to the DMV 3 times trying to get my driver license changed. My husband and I have lived in 4 states with his job movement. I have never encountered the ridiculous requirements for an American born citizen to JUST GET A LICENSE. If I was illegal I'm sure it would be a piece of cake. The first time I went in with proof of address (utility bill), old license, and social security. I was turn away - rudely....given a paper with information needed. I needed my marriage certificate, and birth certificate or passport ( don't have one of those). Second time: Brought all of the above listed. Turned away again, because my original birth certificate was not a "vital statistic birth certificate". I was not told that specifically before. Left again, and dug up a copy of the statistic certificate. 3rd time: Brought everything requested. Turned away again because the vital static certificate was not the original. AND.....I did not have a copy of another marriage certificate from my first marriage 34 years before. I have never kept anything pertaining to this mistake of my youth, and now have to track down and pay fees to get copies of both of the above. I was never informed that I needed a copy of the first marriage and never in all the years I have been driving a car been required to show copies of marriage certificates. Insane! So now I am waiting for however long it takes to get the copies from the Vital records in NC where I was born and married over 34 years ago - all just to get my license. The freedoms and free stuff given to illegals is disgusting when tax paying AMERICANS are subjected to this craziness.
