COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Governor Mark Sanford's press secretary, Will Folks, says he plans to leave his post August First to work in the private sector.
Folks says he will revive his political consulting company, Viewpolitik.
Folks worked on Sanford's election campaign and briefly left the transition team to establish the company in 2002. He ended up returning to the governor's office.
He sent the governor a letter of resignation last week.
The 30-year-old Folks says he's looking for what he called a
"less
intrusive chapter" for his life.
He had no previous political experience before he was hired by Sanford. Folks says he would like to be involved in Sanford's re-election campaign through his new company. He also says he's working on a book.
