Please be aware there are folks falling thru the cracks. I am a graduate of USC, and I have applied for over 60 jobs at USC in 2 years. I saw how ineffective SCDEW was 3 years ago and I have applied for 30 jobs there in the past 2 years. I have an MBA from USC and it hasn't helped me gain employment in SC at all. I am one on the millions who lost there little bit of ($127 a week) unemployment I was getting in December of 2013.I was called by SCDEW to attend an OJT program to put us all to work. We were told in the class that we were the cream of the crop, and would need to be available on a moments notice for an interview. That was on January 24, 2014. I have yet to go for an interview yet SC Businesses get $$$ from Dept. Labor/grants to help pay our wages for a few months while the Business decides if they want us? Is SCDEW just helping their cronies? How many of the 30 folks from the January 24 class have been placed? I see another orientation scheduled for Friday 3/28 at 2pm? Have they really already placed all those other folks? NOT ME! Maybe you could send a representative to evaluate this program and its effectiveness? Somebody is getting jobs! I am saddened that you may not be aware that over 50 year olds with lots of experience are the leapers in SC. Even SCDEW will not place us. Your numbers of the unemployed are not accurate. Many of us have fallen off your grid and are desperately surviving and praying for employment. We are not the druggies, or the lazy, or the slow. Desperate in SC! Thelma Hedgepath, MBA
