I currently receive Social Security Disability Benefits, which is my and my husbands only source of income. He has to take care of me, because I am unable to do any cooking, or house hold things, like cleaning or laundry and cooking. I received an ankle injury 2 years ago, and have been unable to work since. One of my concerns is that we do not qualify for SNAP benefits, or I am unable to receive Medicaid benefits because my father is still living. He is 80 years old, and has my name on his checking account for his health reasons. My husband or I DO NOT benefit from his income, but I continued to get denied because of this. I have to decide month after month which I`m going to do, buy groceries, have lights and water, or buy my medicine. This is very unfair to me, and I feel that I am being discriminated against because of my father being alive. I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone, and let me tell you, there are lots of people that receive these benefits that do not qualify. I have worked for over 30 years and I feel that I should be able to receive these benefits, over someone who has not worked a single day. I have been on bed rest for 2 months now due to slipped disc in my back waiting on Medicare to go into effect, because I am unable to pay for MRI that has to be done before I can see a surgeon to get some help. I don`t understand why there is a 2 year waiting period for Medicare to go into effect if you are approved for disability. 72.168.160.92
