COLUMBIA, S.C. -South Carolina will receive
nearly $1.9 million in federal funds for emergency and terrorism
preparedness.
The funds, which come from the Department of Homeland Security,
were allocated among states on the basis of population and level of
vulnerability.
South Carolina has received a total of $2.6 million this fiscal
year through the Emergency Management Performance Grant program.
"This grant will give South Carolina and its local communities
the flexibility to allocate funds according to risk and
vulnerabilities and to address the most urgent state and local needs
in disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery," said
Undersecretary for Emergency Preparedness and Response Michael D.
Brown.
