In the past, high gas prices caused retailers to raise prices to cover that transportation, but when the cost of shipping went down, the cost of goods did not go down as well. Most senior citizens have such a low income and credits for income tax purposes, that they (me) have no tax liability. A reduction in the income tax will not help senior citizens who will be paying more in gas taxes. A better offset would be to reduce the state sales tax, by half to none, to those of age 65 and older. State sales taxes for every day purchases, the must haves; are costly to these individuals.
