In Columbia, most rides are students taking short trips, which are now "minimum fares". As a "minimum fare" that nets the driver $2.30 gross, before expenses. You =might= get in 3 of those an hour if you get back to back calls. $6.90/hour will barely pay for my fuel, much less the monthly payments on the car.
