The "Greer Station Oktoberfest" in downtown Greer begins at noon today, featuring music, food and displays by local artists.

You can sample culinary fare ($3 to $6) such as fresh Bratwurst and Knackwurst off the grill and Bavarian Cinnamon Roasted nuts as German-themed performers provide music.

Festivities open at noon with Channelheimer's Oompah Band, which will play until 4 p.m. when the festival's Bratwurst Eating Competition begins at the City Stage.

In between music breaks, from 3 to 7 p.m., The Edelweiss Dancers will perform and encourage others to learn traditional German dance.

At 4:30 are the Stein Races followed by music from the Gootman Sauerkraut Band from 5 to 9 p.m.

The official festival beer (among Budweiser and traditional soft drinks) will be the "Spaten Oktoberfest," which is the world's first Oktoberfest beer that created for the Munich Oktoberfest in 1972.
