If we want to purge real symbols of racism from the public venue then we should focus our ire on the fathers of modern racism who gave US Jim Crow, lynching and segregation -- progressive and New Deal Democrats. Unlike our forefathers, who lived during a time when slavery was a Constitutional right, these men grew up after the War Between the States and passage of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. They chose racism and hate and are best illustrated by a true believer and enabler -- Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The former was a dedicated racist who fostered the rebirth of the KKK and the latter a cynical and opportunistic politician who chose to empower racism for his personal political benefit. Let's purge these two men's names and legacy from public venues, because not only did they warmly embrace racism, but their decisions still negatively impact our society today. When Democrats are ready to deal with their history of hate as embodied by these two despicable characters then the nation can move on in harmony and unity.

P.S.  When will you demand the racist/segregationist Governor of South Carolina who hoisted the ANV flag over the state capitol, Ernest "Fritz" Hollings, have his name removed from all public entities?
