Low lake levels don't deter T.L Hanna High School anglers
Low lake levels at Hartwell nearly cancelled the Dec. 9 T.L Hanna High School fishing tournament. Instead, anglers headed to one of the deepest ramps on the lake at Portman Marina and were able to conduct a successful tournament.
The lake level is low, but the weather was nice and the fishing was fair for December. Almost all of the two angler teams brought fish to weigh-in, including two teams with over eight pounds.
Derek Freeman and Garrett Bramlette won the tournament with a nice showing of 8.82 pounds and had the biggest fish weighing 3.28 pounds. Derek and Garrett won rod and reel combos, crankbaits and sunglasses, which were provide by one of the team sponsors Lehigh Hanson Inc.
Interested in forming a bass fishing club at your school? All you need to do is get a minimum of six students (within the 11-18 year old range) with dues paid and you can have a Youth Bass Fishing Club. You'll also need an adult at your school to help lead the club, provide advice and help arrange at least two club tournaments, fundraisers, speakers and other learning sessions pertaining to fishing for club meetings. The Youth Bass Fishing Clubs is a product of a partnership between the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, The Bass Federation of South Carolina and B.A.S.S with help and support from parents, teachers, school districts, local bait & tackle shops, community partners and Pure Fishing.
