DNR stocks 500 channel catfish at Bonneau Ferry WMA
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently stocked channel catfish in the Hog Pond at Bonneau Ferry Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Fishing on the property is open to adult/youth on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays during specified times of the year.
The Berkeley County Legislative Delegation affirmed the use of the County Game & Fish Funds to enhance the fishing opportunity on Bonneau Ferry WMA. The Berkeley County Legislative Delegation continues to be a strong supporter for activities that involve getting youth outdoors to participate in nature based activities.
To get to Hog Pond, stay on Bonneau Ferry Road approximately 3 miles from the Bonneau Ferry WMA entrance and make a right just before you approach the gate at the end of the road. The pond is easily accessible for bank fisherman and SCDNR requests that all litter be disposed of properly.
Bonneau Ferry WMA has multiple lakes, totaling 100 acres, and is an adult/youth area, which means no adult may fish without a youth age 17 or younger. Each youth may be accompanied by up to two adults. Daily creel limits are 2 largemouth bass and 10 bream, with no limit on catfish. Boats may be propelled by paddle or electric trolling motor only.
