LONGLEAF TOUR TO FLORIDA AND ALABAMA FOR FOREST LANDOWNERS
COLUMBIA---Forest landowners in Lexington, Orangeburg, and Richland Counties are cordially invited to participate in a tour of the Tall Timbers Research facility in Florida and the Longleaf Alliance at the Solon Dixon Center in Alabama October 20-23, 2003.
Tour participants will depart on October 20th for Thomasville, GA, tour the quail management research facility and visit the Solon Dixon Center on October 21st, tour the longleaf management area on October 22nd, and arrive back in South Carolina on October 23rd. The tour, open to the first 20 people who register, does not qualify for continuing forestry education credits. For more information about the Longleaf Tour, call 803-534-6280.
Other upcoming forest landowner events include the Lexington County Forest Landowner Association Meeting on September 10, 2002, focusing on Pine Straw Production at Ryans Steak House, St. Andrews Rd., Columbia, at 6:30 p.m., Dutch Treat. Call 803-359-8515 to pre-register.
On September 12, 2002, the Richland County Forest Landowner Association Meeting will be held at 6:15 p.m. at Harbison State Forest Education Center, Board River Rd. in Columbia. The meeting, which will feature a $5 per person catered meal, will focus on Estate Planning. Call Harold Wessinger, 803-749-1934 to pre-register.
On September 24, 2002, the Orangeburg County Forest Landowner Association Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Kuckery Restaurant on Cannon Bridge Rd. in Orangeburg, SC. The topic will be "State and Local Legislative Issues affecting Private Property Rights." The meeting will be Dutch Treat. Call 803-534-6280 to pre-register.
