Subject: 71st Anniversary Guam Liberation Day

Ma'am, my name is Danilo M. Cabanayan. I am the President of the Pacific Islanders Association of Columbia, South Carolina. I just want to inform the Governor as well as your office that the Pacific Islanders Association of Columbia, South Carolina is celebrating the "71st Anniversary Guam Liberation Day" on 20 June 2015. This is the First Event ever to be held in Columbia, Ft. Jackson. The place for this event is on Ft. Jackson (Twin Lakes). I as well as the Pacific Islanders Association of Columbia, South Carolina am inviting the Governor to attend this Historic Event. We hope her schedule is open, we know that she is very busy. This event is to Honor the Armed Forces that liberated Guam and to recognize the sacrifices that the Chamorro's (Indigenous people of the Mariana Islands) made during the occupation of Guam. I am also asking if you can point me in the right direction in getting contact with someone in the states protocol because I have the "Honorable Madeleine Z. Bordallo", (Congresswoman) of Guam that will be arriving on the 19th of June from Washington, DC and will be the Honored Guest Speaker at the "71st Anniversary Guam Liberation Day Celebration". Congresswoman Bordallo will be attending this event with two (2) of her staff members. Mr. Jay Rojas (Liaison for the Governor of Guam) will also be traveling from Washington, DC to attend this Historic Event. Most of all the members of the Pacific Islanders Association of Columbia, South Carolina are Active duty / Retired Military. We are a long way from home and this is our place to stay but we never forgot where we came from. If it wasn't for the American Forces we would not be here today. This is not an Observance Day; this is "History" for the Armed Forces and the People from Guam to come together as one to remember 21 July 1944.

Very respectfully,
