Dogged
Legislator Clemmons bill eases
prescription transfers
Congratulations to Rep. Alan Clemmons, R-Myrtle Beach, for his
persistence in helping part-time S.C. residents and visitors
transfer prescriptions from other states. Having seen his 2004 bill
to that effect fall to a gubernatorial veto, Clemmons guided a new
prescription-transfer bill through the General Assembly in January
and February. Gov. Mark Sanford signed it Thursday.
Now, S.C. pharmacists can refill visitors' out-of-state
prescriptions after certifying their authenticity with the
drugstores that issued them. Previously, visitors often had to beg
local doctors to issue new prescriptions just to get medication
they're already taking. They, especially, will appreciate Clemmons'
doggedness in removing this pointless obstacle. |
