In fact the press reported that after Pouliott and Waites approached your office, they were told that you were not going to consider this matter again, yet somehow it was. http://www.thestate.com/news/local/article80171087.html I wish to inquire how protection of residents' rights for fair representation, as set out in the constitution has been considered if council members can remove another? What is the point of representation if a band of 'good ole boys' can do as they please? Council member Barry Walker was elected by the residents of Irmo and he should be allowed to do what he was appointed to do, whether Mayor King and/or the majority of the current council likes it or not. If the residents do not agree with Walker's method of representation, it should be the resident's right to elect someone else. It is NOT the right of other council members to make that decision on our behalf. If Council members don't want to deal with councilman Barry Walker, they are free to resign their seat. I urge you to reconsider this matter in the best interests of the public. It would be both dangerous and a disaster if other Councils were to follow this precedent, as you can be sure that this ruling is going to be used as a weapon by the less scrupulous." Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your reply.
