Sanford names Catoe to CabinetPosted Thursday, January 30, 2003 - 6:11 pmBy DAN HOOVER STAFF WRITER dhoover@greenvillenews.com Catoe, 55, was Campbell's executive assistant for health and human services and economic development. The career state employee has 22 years of experience in senior management positions, including the last nine as a member of the Workers' Compensation Commission. Sanford described Catoe as "someone who has consistently found creative approaches to solving problems. He brings an exciting energy and broad base of institutional knowledge to this post as well as considerable management and human services experience." On Wednesday, Sanford completed filling senior staff positions for his new administration, tapping a number of former Campbell aides and others with experience on the state Budget and Control Board's staff. DAODAS programs cover public health issues relating to alcohol and other drug abuse and develops comprehensive systems for prevention, treatment, and intervention, and treatment providers. Also, Thursday, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer announced the appointment of Randy Page, a Greenville GOP activist and former Statehouse aide, as his chief of staff. Page, 35, worked in President Bush's South Carolina campaign, was director of public events and executive assistant to Gov. David Beasley and currently is 4th Congressional District Republican Party chairman. He was legislative affairs director for Bauer's predecessor, Bob Peeler. He is a 1990 graduate of Bob Jones University. Sanford will make another Cabinet announcement today at 1:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
