PEELER VISITS BRIGGS ELEMENTARY FOR
RED-RIBBON WEEK
Florence -- Lieutenant Governor Bob Peeler visited Briggs Elementary School in conjunction with National Red Ribbon Week Friday morning. Peeler read the Red Ribbon Book to second and third graders, made classroom visits to talk to students about drugs, and met with teachers to hear their thoughts about what they see going on inside their classrooms.
Said Peeler, "Our children need to learn from parents, teachers, and communities about the dangers of drugs before they learn for themselves. Spreading the drug-free message to our children is what Red Ribbon Week and this visit are all about."
Red Ribbon Week is sponsored by National Family Partnership (as well as South Carolina Family Partnership) in an effort to spread the drug-free message throughout communities nationwide.
Peeler has been active in South Carolina Family Partnership for a number of years through his business. More recently, Peeler and 8 year old son Robert filmed a public service announcement with Greenville students in a family effort to promote the drug-free message and kick-off National Family Partnership's 1997 Red Ribbon Campaign.
