ABOUT THE BOARD

• Gov. Mark Sanford has nominated 12 people to fill posts on Santee Cooper’s 11-member board since he was elected in 2002.

• Nine of those people have served on the board, including four who have been the subject of criticism by a state Senate subcommittee — Guerry E. Green, Keith D. Munson, Richard H. Coen and G. Dial DuBose.

• Munson has resigned, and Green has left his position as interim chairman. However, Sanford has renominated Green for a lesser position on the board.

• The subcommittee has called for Coen’s resignation or removal but has said DuBose’s nomination to another term is still under consideration.

• The three Sanford nominees who have not sat on Santee Cooper’s board before are John T. Molnar, who was endorsed today by the Senate subcommittee; Oscar L. Thompson III, whose screening hearing is unscheduled; and Hugh Martin, who withdrew his name from consideration early this year.
