Governor's Mansion Christmas Tree
South Carolina's first family headed to Gilbert
Monday to cut down a Christmas tree for the Governor's mansion.

As the holidays approach, many South Carolina families spend their weekends at cut-your-own tree lots around the state looking for just the right pine, cedar or cypress tree to saw down and
carry back. Others go for the precut Douglas firs, mostly imported from North Carolina.

South Carolina Christmas Tree Association president Dale Taylor says this year's Christmas season is something to behold. He says the drought has eased up and the trees have grown more this year than in previous years.

Seekhaven Farm Manager Marshall Moore says the trees got ample rain at the proper time this year and they look a lot better.
