Moore raised $3 million; Sanford yet to file

Democrat Tommy Moore raised more than $3 million in his losing bid to unseat Republican Gov. Mark Sanford, according to campaign finance reports filed with the State Ethics Commission. Moore, a state senator, spent all but about $25,000 of the money and has no debt.

Sanford had not filed his fourth-quarter report as of 5 p.m. Thursday. The deadline was Tuesday, although the commission grants an automatic five-day grace period. Through the third quarter, which ended Sept. 30, Sanford had raised almost $8 million.

In other races, incumbent GOP Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer raised almost $1.7 million to defeat Democrat Robert Barber, who raised more than $1.3 million. Barber’s campaign still carries $100,000 in debt.
