Rather than trying to figure out why the voters have decided to vote as they have, the leadership is ignoring them and trying to undo and work against the will of the voters. In this effort Republican leadership seems to be, in all likelihood, supporting a first term senator who has a track record as an extremist and who has refused to cooperate with anyone in the Senate. It seems like they are trying to create a "Republican Obama". I think that the Republican leadership should honor the will of the voters and bring them together within the Republican Party. To do otherwise will result in undermining the trust that we have in our party's leadership and the future of our children & grandchildren. As a first generation immigrant and current US citizen (from The Netherlands) I have seen what happens in a country that does not listen to its voters. In the past my American born spouse & I have voted for you. I hope the Republican Party will support, as their candidate for president, the voters' choice rather than their own politically motivated choice. Thank you, Johannes Lukker (and Jane Lukker)
