That we provide classroom support to Head Start programs by bring hands-on STEM/STEAM programming to them? That under-resourced and homeless families can get scholarships to school break camps that prevent summer slide? That families receiving SNAP/TANF can gain entrance for only $1? That research shows play-based, hands-on learning is critical to early brain development through at least the first 7 years of life - preventing the achievement gap? Believing that museums are 'nice' but not critical is common. As is believing that we should be able to deliver through admissions and memberships and private donors should just write us checks. This is what makes museums stop serving their community and become elitist 'attractions'. Your comments in the budget veto's are not unfounded but I think merit discussion with the field. I would welcome you to Charleston, to our little museum to learn more about what we do and the role we can play. I hope you will reach out and schedule a visit with us. Nichole Myles, Executive Director
