SPORTY ATVS ARE NEW FARM WORKHORSES

MOULTRIE, GA---Combining the traits of a working vehicle with a sport ride, ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) have become an essential and entertaining part of many farm operations.

Discover the latest models and features available at the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition, October 16-18, 2001.

At the show, Arctic Cat will introduce its new 500-4x4 Automatic TBX, which has a rugged tilt-box on its rear with 300 pounds of hauling capacity.  According to Jay Lusignan, the TBX has an easy-to-use manual latch and full-tilt complete with rear gate. Its durable plastic design will not rust and cleans easily when the job is done.  Large, fully enclosed fender boxes provide ample storage.

The company will also present its Arctic Cat Youth Model, a simple to operate ATV whose engine is controlled to 18 miles per hour.  A standard 6-foot whip with flag is attached to the model for added security.

“Yamaha will show the new model its engineers call the “ultimate” utility ATV,” said Kim Knupp. The flagship of Yamaha’s utility fleet is the Grizzly 660 Automatic 4x4 with massive liquid-cooled power, a patented transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, on-command four-wheel drive, and a lightweight CAD-designed chassis.

Yamaha’s Big Bear 400 is another workhorse that offers a versatile standard-feature  trailer hitch capable of hooking up over 900 pounds and center-mounted to pull every load straight.  The company will also show its Kodiak Automatic 4x4, an “ATV of the Year” winner that is ultra-lightweight yet possesses all the bells and whistles.

The ATV Section at the Sunbelt Expo will house new and updated models in all price ranges from major manufacturers such as Club Car, American Honda, Polaris, Extreme Suzuki, and Bombadier.  Additional features to look for this year are improved ergonomics, low maintenance engineering, high ground clearance, start-in-gear, tight turning radius, extended fuel range, hydraulic brakes, and halogen headlights.

Also on display in the ATV Section will be golf carts (modified for agricultural use and hunting), go-carts, implements, related parts, clothing and accessories.

The Sunbelt Expo site is located at Spence Field; four miles southeast of US Hwy 319 on Highway 133 near Moultrie, GA. Hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8:30 am to 4 pm on Thursday. Admission is $5 per day, per person. Children under 6 are admitted free with a parent.
