Bill allowing Ten Commandments displays clears panel

Associated Press

A bill allowing the Ten Commandments to be displayed at the Statehouse passed a Senate Finance subcommittee Tuesday.

The bill says the Ten Commandments can be displayed at the Statehouse or its grounds just like any other document of historical significance.

An amendment the subcommittee adopted says that public money can't be used to pay for the display.
