Sanford will travel to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls to complete the training he needs to become a fully qualified health services administration officer. Gubernatorial spokesman Will Folks says Sanford plans to deliver his annual State of the State message to the General Assembly the week after he returns. Air Force Reserve Lieutenant Wayne Capps says Sanford's training runs from January Third to the 14th. The governor joined the Air Force Reserve at Charleston Air Force Base as a first lieutenant in January 2002, about two months before he filed to run for governor.
