Senate Candidate Calls For New Election
Lee Bright Lost To John Hawkins By 31 Votes
SPARTANBURG
COUNTY, S.C. -- Republican Lee Bright, of Roebuck, said precinct
problems and voter irregularities raise doubts about the outcome of his
primary race, and he's calling for a new election.
Bright ran for Senate District 12 in Spartanburg County.
On Monday, Bright filed papers with the state Republican party to
contest and protest the election.
He lost to incumbent John Hawkins by only 31 votes.
Bright said some people voted even though they didn't live in his
district.
He also claims some people voted twice through absentee ballots and
at the polls.
