<WFUD_Request>Hello,
I sent a request before the holidays to obtain support towards the traffic concerns the residents of Yeamans Hall are experiencing, however I did not receive any follow-up from your office. The residents have been reaching out and working with local city officials
to implement traffic calming measures and address safety concerns with Yeamans Hall Road, in Hanahan. We have been unsuccessful in getting the speed limit reduced with the SCDOT - they feel reducing the speed will only increase the speed - something I have
never in my life heard. The SCDOT also told us nothing is going to be done to calm the traffic or address the safety concerns with Yeamans Hall, something I find completely irresponsible of the SCDOT to say. It is no secret to your office that Charleston is
growing at a rapid rate. Your office has a responsibility to address these massive safety and growth concerns. Another road needs to be built to funnel traffic to the major highways. You cannot continue to have a small, narrow street with no sidewalks and
houses a stone's throw away from the street to act as a highway for everyone in Hanahan and north of the city. Unfortunately, someone has to cough up the money to build another road in Hanahan, you cannot continue to use Yeamans Hall and just assume/hope the
residents will stop complaining, won't get hit by a car retrieving their mail, get hit by a car reversing out of their driveway or perhaps a car doesn't fly through their front window.
I urge you to contact the SCDOT and have the speed reduced and discuss traffic calming measures. Additionally, a conversation needs to happen to discuss building another road to assist with the massive influx in traffic.
