Governor Hodges signs 36 bills into law.
Columbia, S. C. - Governor Jim Hodges today signed 36 bills into law, including legislation to streamline government, retain experienced state retirees and allow for flextime schedules among state employees.

"These new laws enable us to run government like a business," Hodges said. "We will give taxpayers better customer service when they pay county taxes, give experienced state retirees an incentive to stay on the job, and give state employees the option of flextime to manage their schedules more efficiently."

Governor Hodges signed S. 143 into law. This new law provides for the electronic payment of county taxes via a credit card.
