Tractor accident kills worker at Savannah River Site

Associated Press

A Gibson, Ga., man working for a grading company died at the Savannah River Site after being caught under the tread of a tractor on Monday.

The Department of Energy said it is investigating the death of Christopher McZilkey, 30, who worked for Gunther Grading and Hauling Co. of Thomson, Ga.

McZilkey was injured while working on improvements on a dam at a pond at the sprawling nuclear weapons facility in Barnwell County. He later died at the Medical College of Georgia.

Barnwell County Coroner Lloyd Ward has ruled the death accidental.
