NATIONAL FFA OFFICERS VISIT SOUTH CAROLINA
COLUMBIA---Two National Officer Team members were welcomed to the state Wednesday by Les Tindal, Commissioner of Agriculture. Abbie Kammerzell, Western Region Vice President, from Colfax, Washington, and Barrett Keene, Southern Region Vice President, from Plant City, Florida, stopped by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture offices in the Wade Hampton Building, State House Complex Wednesday morning after their visit to the State House.
Kammerzell is a sophomore at Washington State University, majoring in agricultural communication. She said that she hopes to “serve as a liaison between agriculture and the public” through her work. Kammerzell’s SAEs included equine science, beef production, and cereal gran production. Outside of FFA, her activities have included volleyball, Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD), and a term as senior class president.
Keene is a University of Florida junior, majoring in agricultural education. He hopes to “serve as a true friend and servant” to his biggest role models, his fellow FFA members. Keene’s SAEs included home and community development as well as agricultural sales and service. Outside of FFA, his activities have included serving as an intern for the United States Agricultural Committee and the State of Florida’s Olympics Youth.
