Gov. Sanford signs anti-stalking law

(Charleston) June 24, 2005 - Governor Mark Sanford held a ceremonial bill signing Friday in the Lowcountry for a tougher anti-stalking law.

The bill is called "Mary Lynn's Law." It is named after Charleston teacher, Mary Lynn Witherspoon. She was killed by a stalker.

The anti-stalking law creates a better way to notify victims when defendants are set free.

It also requires the police to give judges the incident reports on stalking cases, before the judge sets bail.
