I write to encourage you in your leadership of the state of South Carolina.  After reading, praying, and listening to your actions following the death of the nine members of the Emmanuel A.M.E. Church I was unable to sleep on Monday, June 22nd.  The thought that kept me awake is so strong that I am writing to you at 2:35 am on the 23rd.
   Perhaps it is the time to create a new flag that looks toward the future.  It might come from a request for artists, children, peacemakers, dreamers, and others to submit their ideas and patterns.  A panel of persons representing the ages and population of the state could be created to select those that would be considered or chosen.  I recognize that this could open controversy, but it also might create an opening for healing and purpose for the future.  The idea has kept me awake so I am sharing it with you in the hope that it will be useful and bring a new peace to many.
