I understand that teachers cannot be held responsible for the information which is in the curriculum given by the state that they are required to teach. My son is in the 6th grade this year and has just transferred out of special education classes into inclusion classes. He is struggling a LOT. In his history class within the last few weeks, he has been required to study different religions. When he came home 2 nights ago with homework about Muslims, Islam, and the Quran, that was it for me. I will not allow my child to learn about these things in school. The dollar bill says "In God We Trust". Does it not?? I am not here to judge anyone for what they believe in. But when you are taking away a person's choice as to what they choose to study, there is a huge problem. I do not want any of my children exposed to this kind of nonsense. It is highly offensive to me and my entire family. Who can I speak to regarding this? I even asked if he could work on a different assignment in place of this but that was not an option.
