This ceremony represented the service of my Uncle, David C. Phillips, of Florence, SC, and five additional Distinguished Veterans for bravery in World War II. The French Consul and our (SC) Veterans Affairs Commissioner both lead a gracious and respectful presentation, even as you, our Governor, was seen leaving your office by the 'side door'! I mean no disrespect to you, even though I feel you disrespected these distinguished and elderly Heroes from the Great State of South Carolina. A brief statement and appearance by you would have been appropriate and appreciated. Sincerely, Thomas O. Monts, Jr.
