Dear Governor Haley,

It is with deep sadness I write this letter. There is so much sadness over the horrific crime, the massacre of innocent lives in Charleston. People in their place of worship gunned down, fired by a young man filled with hatred and discrimination towards God's children, our Brothers and Sisters who were simply at their bible study.

I am a Grandmother. I grew up in Rhode Island with no hatred or contempt for anyone who looked different from me. We are all God's children. 

I never realized that you fly the Confederate flag in South Carolina. That flag symbolizes segregation and discrimination. That flag tells people that it's okay by your state's standards to continue to discriminate. This is so very wrong in America. You are the Governor and should have the power to take it down and put up the American flag that symbolizes freedom and solidarity. That flag symbolizes unity that so many died to protect us and save our freedom. 

I am asking you to do the right thing. Stop advertising hatred and discrimination in the Land of the Free. Please take that flag down and be a hero to the rest of the country.
