Bonnie Approaches, Charley Becomes Hurricane

MIAMI (AP) - Two storms could be in South Carolina this week.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Bonnie could be over central South Carolina early Friday morning. The hurricane center says Hurricane Charley could be over northeastern South Carolina late Saturday morning.

At 11 am, Tropical Storm Bonnie was 235 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Bonnie is moving north northeast at six miles an hour. She is expected to turn more to the
northeast today. A hurricane watch is in effect from the Alabama-Florida border to the Suwanee River. Highest winds are 50 miles an hour.

At 11 am, Hurricane Charley was 110 miles south southeast of Kingston, Jamaica. Charley is moving west northwest at 18 miles an hour. He is expected to turn to the northwest on Thursday. A
hurricane watch is in effect for the Florida Keys. Highest winds are 70 miles an hour.
