<WFUD_Request>I would not be writing you if I was not desperate. I have tried contacting the SC Board of Accountancy, NASBA, and the Director of LLR. I applied to take the CPA Exams on January 6th, 2016 and I still have not received a Notice to Schedule necessary to begin testing. There are two things I think you should be aware of concerning this process.

First, NASBA handles the first part of the process and finally scanned my information to the SC Board of Accountancy last Friday(2-19-16) with the expectation that the evaluation would be done on Friday(2-19-16). The SC Board has let me know that the first evaluation has been completed and that it is possible for the entire evaluation to be completed by this Friday(2-26-19). In which case, it will be too late for me to take a single exam in this period since testing ends at the end February and will recommence in April. Again, I applied and my payment of $869 was processed 7 weeks ago. I have been told previously that evaluations usually take one day, but the board has other duties to tend to at this time.

Secondly, SC is unique in that NASBA collects applications and then sends them to the SC Board for the education evaluation. Other states let NASBA handle the entire process. This procedure is not working! Candidates in other states are receiving their Notice to Schedule within 48 hours of applying. I am told by NASBA that SC candidates have the longest wait times to receive their Notice to Schedule. The process as it stands today is broken because NASBA and the SC Board take turns passing the blame to one another.

If there is anything you can do to help expedite the education evaluation I would be forever grateful. I have been studying for the first exam for 10 weeks, and I am afraid that I won't be able to take it until April. In addition, I am currently unemployed and passing even one CPA exam greatly improves my chances of securing a job.

Thank you,

Kevin Ekman
