This is about the George Stinney case and my hope for you to re-open it. By now you must know the story very well, as you are the Governor of South Carolina. And I am sure you have very valid reasons as to why you do not want to re-open the case. But this is why you should! Although there is no evidence on either side, the information on this case points to George being not guilty. In 1944 I suspect that racism was still strong in all states. It was unfair from the start of the trial because everyone in the court including the judge was white. His court-appointed attorney did not try to defend him; in fact he had no defense. People are in an uproar about this case even though it was 70 years ago. I would know because I am not even from South Carolina and I am still a bit dejected about the events of this case. How are people going to trust your justice system, if the past gives them every reason not to? Your justice system's validity is decreasing more each day as the Stinney story is being exposed to more people. The most honorable way to save credibility would be to reopen the case, whatever that may happen during the reopening of the case, will be okay in the end as long as justice was served fairly. Have a lovely day! Chayanne Amoguis
