I am very interesting working in this area, whether it be on the task force or another initiative in this area. I look forward to further collaborations on this urgent matter. Abstract Domestic violence is an intentional physical, emotional, and controlling action. Females and males of various backgrounds are victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence is prevalent in faith-based communities of all ethnicities. The purpose of this research study is to learn from the experiences of clerics in faith-based groups in South Carolina addressing domestic violence within their congregations and develop a training tool to better equip clerics in domestic violence counseling. To conduct this study, this researcher purposefully chose a sample which consisted of eight religious leaders: six African-American (three males and three females), one Caucasian female, and one biracial female. All of the clergy persons included in the study were ministers and resided in South Carolina. Additionally, this researcher chose to use the snowball effect. Six face to face interviews and two telephone interviews occurred at the clergy persons place of business. More specifically, the interviews were all one-on-one, using semi- structured, open-ended questions. The interviews took three months to complete and were transcribed verbatim by the researcher. The data was analyzed using Braun and Clark's method for data analysis. Based on the analysis, themes were developed that correlated with the research questions and the religious leaders' responses. The study results indicate that clergy persons in faith-based groups now understand domestic violence is an issue that needs attention from the faith communities. The results of the study demonstrate that domestic violence needs to be discussed from the pulpit more often. Additionally, the data shows victims do not fully trust faith-based leaders to provide guidance. As a result, victims are also relying on their family members and friends. In order to mitigate this trust issue, clergy persons need the following: to be properly trained and educated on domestic violence and to be made aware of the resources offered in the secular communities to properly support victims of domestic violence. Finally, the data collected demonstrates that religious leaders would like to be included in the community collaboration endeavors, thereby having a voice for the faith- based community in efforts to alleviate domestic violence.
