We do have a large amount of immigration. However, this community is dying quickly. There is no economy for jobs, no industry, no restaurants, no businesses. This community is, however, FULL of section 8 Government Housing projects that taxes the people that have invested in homes here. These housing projects bring in no to low income that are tax exempt. We want to know how many Section 8 housing projects, duplexes & residential homes through this one community are on Government Subsidized? We are called little Mexico, Burittoville, Taco land, etc. Immigrants are all in these housing complexes like Greenville Arms on White Horse Road and Broadway Apts at 11 Broadway Drive. We have complained about this development for a year begging it be condemned. When the swat team tells you to close your business so they can watch the complex, you are going to move out to. There are schools around this apts and we are told things like the Drug Cartel live in these areas and not to go around or in the apt courtyard. It is time for Berea to NOT have another Section 8 housing project built in this area. They are not spread equally across the county and we hear things that the county is cleansing other parts of Greenville and pushing to this side. Well, my home is losing value quickly from such poor planning. And, what is so bothersome, is the zoning map appears to reflect that all this once farm land is now zoned for such projects. This needs to be addressed. Our side of town is just as important as the East side of town and it's time for Greenville, South Carolina to look at our corridor to I-85 and move industry, businesses, restaurants our way. Oh, did I mention our taxes are as high as the side of Greenville that has everything. That is because we are having to pay the taxes to support these non-profits and Government subsidized. Lastly, we hear the Refugees are now coming to this Berea community. We are opposed to more immigration in this area. It already looks like a Border town in lieu of an area at the base of the mountains in Greenville. Respectfully, Gwen Williams
