It was begun in 2008. I am currently a Bereavement Coordinator and I have directed an annual Family grief day camp successfully for the past 6 years. I am a native of SC. No matter where I have been employed throughout the years I have maintained and ignited a passion for grief support, especially recognizing that children, teens, and adults grieve differently. This passion stems from my own personal loss of my father at age 15. My observation is always the same! We have some great programs in place but much more is needed and on a regular basis. My hope is that recognizing this day in SC will assist in bringing this much needed awareness to the forefront! One in five children in the USA will experience the death of someone close to them by age 18! 1 in 20 the death of a parent. There is so much more I could share! Your assistance in this endeavor will be greatly appreciated. You may go to "ChildrensGriefAwarenessDay" for more information. Thank you!
