SLED to receive $26 million in federal grants

Associated Press

The State Law Enforcement Division has been awarded nearly $26.3 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The grants were awarded as part of the federal agency's grant program for the 2005 fiscal year, said Rep. Henry Brown, R-S.C.

The funds are divided among local law enforcement agencies to support the state's efforts to protect against terrorist threats, officials said.
